blog series?! eh. why not?! every friday tune in. rollin through joshua. why? 'cause God told me to. duh! sorry that was really cheesy. seriously though. i've put a new routine in my life, starting today. every friday morning. sugarbrowns. chi tea. blueberry muffin. and the book of joshua. it started this morning and i love it and decided its a must stay!
ok so the scene. israelites outta egypt. you know pharoah pharoah oh baby!! yea, yea, yea, yea. they act a fool out in the desert, golden calf and all. totally disobedient to the God who rescued them (hmm i wonder how many gazillion times i've done this). so the consequence 40 years wandering in the desert so the disobedient generation can die before the gang enters the promise land. you with me? ok good. so moses is old at this point and the youngin josh is bout take over the lead and take the gang into the promise land aka canaan.
so ch.1 here we go.
moses is out. josh is in. starting in verse 5 God begins a phrase that will be repeated over and over. "Be strong and courageous. I'm with you" I just get this picture of young josh shaken in his boots (or sandals maybe).knees knockin and all. I think thats why God had to tell him so many times. i'd be scared too! but the safe truth is He is with us. therefore we have to be bold. courageous when starting new conquests. full of faith that He's gonna be with us. vs. 12. i got to about here and was urged to go buy a new study bible. Why would Josh send the officers to tell the israelites one thing, while he gave different instructions to the Reubenites, Gadites, etc.. if i didn't know any better i'd say bad leadership move giving two sets of instructions for the same task. but lookin a little closer, i realize he knew more than me. Ok so you see back in numbers 32:20-22. God via Moses told these people they could rest and chill in this land God was giving them if they one day helped the Israelites cross the Jordan. so it was their time to step up and help out the young gang. but how stinkin tight is this?! Its been 40+ years. and here we see yet again He is faithful. keeping His word. and He gave them rest and success because they were obedient.
its basic but vital. Be strong and very courageous, for the Lord your God is with you. obedience, following His instructions brings favor and rest.
its a good word.
see you next friday for fridays with josh!
