Fridays with Josh. I still love it. it keeps me in the word. digging. seeking after new truths. so i was thinkin man i can't stick with one chapter at a time or i may never finish this blog series.
this morning is super chill. i'm officially on thanksgiving break, even though i spent my morning working on a neuro notebook. lame!
so in chapter 3 and 4 we see Josh leading the israelites across the jordan headin to caanan. its really detailed about how things went down. reminds me of the qualitative articles I've had to review lately. really wordy, yet lets you feel like you're there and walkin right with them. I think God inspired it to be that way.
So God tells Josh to select 12 men to represent the 12 tribes. which i thought was nifty because later on Jesus would select 12 men to be His disciples. yep, He's tight like that! so after they cross the Jordan God instructs the men to gather 12 stones from the Jordan to serve as a reminder of His provision to dry things up so they could cross, just like with the Red Sea too. Now at my parents house they have a fireplace that is made from river rocks. they're not little pebbles. I picture these stones as boulders that they hauled out of the river bed. they carried the load that marked salvation and provision. I love how we see God's relentless pursuit and action to save His people throughout history. its the gospel. then the stones are set up in the camp to serve as a reminder. take a look at the stones in your life today. the places where He cleared the raging waters to provide you a way out. delivered you. Praise Him for His hand is powerful. and I know i'm not a parent but I think its uber important for families to have big markers and stones (not literally lol) that lead children to ask about the power of our God. and for the stories to be told, that the generations to come might praise and fear the Lord our God.
Joshua 4:24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.
That's my fav so far. What big markers lead you? What stones of faithfulness were placed in your life?
