josh boy! numero dos.

love love love this chapter. mainly cause the woman comes in to take care of things. love it! yes God uses women to do BIG BIG things in His story. and love this chick Rahab. I think someday we'll chat it up in heaven, seriously! oh and Francine Rivers does a great job in her series of the women in the lineage of Jesus.

anywho..

so we find josh boy takin care of business. being obedient and doin what needs to be done to lead those Israelites into Jericho and claim the land God has promised. so that's tight. he sends two spies into Jericho to scout it out see what's goin down. They get there and the people of Jericho know God's people are comin they're totally freaked cause they've heard the stories of crossing the Red Sea and escaping egypt and all. I pray that I'd recognize that power in my life daily. 'Cause my God is still that powerful, for sure. So the spies find rahab (prostitute. yeah you read right. God used a prostitute!) but more than a prostitute Rahab respected the almighty God. She lets them hide out and protects them from the city officials that are huntin them. She leads them to safety and in return they tell her to hang a scarlet cord (makes me think of the scarlet blood used in passover and eventually our salvation. little things make me want to worship Him more.) and when they come back to conquer the city her and her family will be safe and stay with the Israelites. so not to mention she's taking a huge risk, she also has to convince her family about God's people. A God they don't know. don't serve. don't worship.

but she was willing to risk everything for this God she barely knew. She had only heard stories, never prayed, and never actually seen God work. she JUST HEARD STORIES. incredible faith seriously! forget her past as a prostitute, the lady loved the Lord and had so much faith that she was willing to give up everything to follow Him.

as believers we have a personal relationship with this God. love Him. know Him. walk with Him. worship Him. Seen His handiwork. cried out to Him. even still do we have the faith to give up everything?
